something very similar happened to me. while living in l.a., the electrical system in my car died. despite rigging the passenger-side door open, on the way to the mechanic i got locked inside. they had to smash a window to get me out.
as a side note, that summer i had already been sideswiped in a parking lot and forced to drive a canyon road at night after the steering fluid had leaked all over beverly hills. god, i hate l.a.
